Leopard on the prowl, kills sheep in Pulikunta

February 15, 2017 12:43 am | Updated 12:43 am IST - KURNOOL:

A leopard reportedly attacked a herd of sheep in Varikuntapalli Vaddipalli village in Pulikunta panchayat of Galiveedu mandal in Kadapa district and killed a sheep in the early hours of Tuesday.

This is the second attack by a leopard after it reportedly killed five sheep in the village about 10 days ago. Incidentally the sheep that were killed in both the incidents belonged to a shepherd, Avulakunta Vani.

When villagers spotted the leopard and raised a cry, it ran into the nearby forest. The cowherds and shepherds are panic stricken and are going in groups with the cattle for grazing. Forest officials visited Varikuntapalli Vaddipalli village and assured Ms. Vani that they would take steps to pay compensation for the perished sheep.
