Haroche throws light on scientific research

TIRUPATI: The interactions varied from past and present education systems, patience as a virtue, role of a teacher in nurturing a student and much more. These topics emerged from the discussions between Nobel laureate Serge Haroche and students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s (BVB) Sri Venkateswara Vidyalaya here on Thursday.

Prof. Haroche, who visited the school to deliver a talk on ‘scientific research’, took part in an interactive session with the students. He detailed on important inventions and discoveries of scientists along with inspiration from theories of Niels Bohr and Albert Einstein.

Sharing his challenges experienced during his work, Prof. Haroche remarked that several areas in Physics such as cold atom physics, electron cloud, laser momentum of sub atomic particles, measurement of time, and photons have great scope for research and emphasised that light had become a fantastic tool for his work and research in Quantum Physics.

Later, the school management felicitated Prof. Haroche and his wife Claudine Haroche. IIT Tirupati’s Professor In Charge K.N. Satyanarayana, Physics professor P.C. Deshmukh, BVB honorary director and treasurer N. Satyanarayana Raju, principal S. Indira, teachers and students took part in the interactive session.
