9 killed in road mishap in Kurnool

Nine persons, including five women, were killed, and three others injured when the auto in which they were travelling collided with an APSRTC bus at Somayajulapalle village of Orvakallu mandal in Kurnool district on Sunday.

The Orvakallu police said that about thirty-five villagers from several villages of Orvakallu mandal were on their way to Mahanandi in share autos to get some country medicine for the aged and sick children, regularly administered on Sundays.

One of the autos carrying as many as 13 passengers was hit by the bus, and seven were killed on the spot, and two others in an area hospital. The police shifted the bodies to Orvakallu government hospital for autopsy. The deceased included a woman sarpanch. A case has been registered.
