State government has decided to prepare an eight-year perspective plan for overall development of tribals by identifying gaps in growth of tribal areas vis-à-vis plain areas, Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu said here on Monday. Addressing a press conference after holding a State-level conference with officials of the Tribal Welfare Department, including ITDA project officers, he said the perspective plan would be based on “development gap analysis” with reference to various parameters, including education, health and provision of amenities.

He said the officials were told to implement Tribal Sub-Plan in true spirit. It was also decided to strengthen the seven ITDAs in the State in terms of human and financial resources and outsource certain services. It was proposed to take five highly qualified candidates in each ITDA to assist the Project Officer in education, health, livelihoods, skill development and gender issues.

Mr. Kishore Babu announced that a meeting would be held at Rampachodavaram to sort out the problems faced by the seven mandals that have been merged with East Godavari and West Godavari districts.
