Action initiated against role in betting

As many as 52 police officials and staff, including an SI and 30 constables, faced action in Nellore district for their alleged involvement with gangs involved in the cases relating to cricket betting, gambling, illegal goods smuggling, gutkha sale and so on.

For the first time, a large number of general duty (GD) constables attached to various police stations were included in the list of staff facing action. They have all been attached to vacancy reserve (VR). The action was taken by SP P.H.D. Ramakrishna following inquiries into allegations against the staff in various cases. There are four ASIs, seven head constables and 10 home guards on the list.
