4 killed in mishaps in Prakasam

Four people were killed and 22 others injured in three different mishaps in Prakasam district on Friday.

A van driver was killed on the spot and 21 others were injured when the van coming from Haryana collided with a Vijayawada-bound APSRTC bus from Nellore on the Chennai-Kolkata highway at Vallur within Tangutur police station limits, said Singarayakonda Circle Inspector M. Bheema Naik. The injured including six constables proceeding to Guntur district on bandobust duty for Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's visit on Saturday for Ugadi, were rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS),Special Branch DSP Rayapati Srinivas said.

Two persons were killed on the spot in a freak mishap when the cabin of an iron-laden lorry got separated and iron load fell on them after the lorry speedily crossed the speed breaker near Murikimalla Thanda in Pullacheruvu mandal, police said.

In anoth accident, a car driver was killed on the spot when the car hit a stationary lorry at Kammalapadu near Santamagaluru, police added.
