A whopping 30.82 lakh LED bulbs are set to be distributed in Anantapur and Guntur districts, as part of the massive power conservation programme envisaged by Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited.
The two districts, falling under the Tirupati-based Southern Discom, have been identified for trial implementation, for which the company has inked a pact with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL). In the presence of APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director H.Y. Dora, its Chief General Manager (Operations) N. Narasimhulu exchanged the copies of the agreement with EESL programme coordinator Neelima Jain.
The plan is to provide two bulbs per domestic connection to help bring down power consumption. EESL will distribute the two bulbs costing Rs.408 for a mere Rs.20 per household, while the balance amount will be met by the Discom.
“We have already distributed 4 lakh bulbs in Guntur district,” Mr.Dora said. The distribution company estimates a saving to the tune of 191 million units a year in these two districts.
