As many as 26 cows perished and some others were injured when a container carrying them from Ongole to Telangana overturned near Amalapuram in Atmakur mandal in Kurnool district on Sunday.
Rash driving caused the container to overturn at a steep curve and its driver and cleaner fled, according to Atmakur Sub-Inspector Thimma Reddy. Veterinary doctors treated the injured cows and conducted post-mortem on the perished cows.
Some healthy cows were shifted to the ‘gosala’ at Devalapuram in Bandi Atmakur. Atmakur police registered a case.
