16 jailed for consuming liquor in public places

A city court sentenced 16 persons to three days simple imprisonment for consuming liquor at public places and near wine shops violating the prohibitory orders clamped against consumption of liquor in public places. They were caught by the Commissioner’s Task Force, East and South teams at Malakpet, Saidabad and Bahadurpura police station limits.

The police booked cases under Section 188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant).

Gambling den raided

The Mailardevpally police on Friday arrested six persons on charge of playing cards and seized Rs. 4,430 and four cell phones from them. The arrested persons were playing cards at a gambling den in Kattedan when they were nabbed, Sub Inspector, Mahendranath said.
