About 10 schoolchildren were injured, including one of them seriously, when an autorickshaw carrying them overturned at Keelapatla ghat section between Gangavaram and Palamaner mandals on Thursday morning. Heavy load of children and over-speeding is said to be the reason behind the mishap. The injured children, belonging to various government schools in the mandal, were shifted to Gangavaram public health centre. A seriously injured child was shifted to Palamaner hospital. The Gangavaram police oversaw shifting of the injured to the hospital. A case was registered. The locals who thronged the accident spot said that due to lack of sufficient rural transportation, people are heavily depending on private vehicles on the risky and narrow roads, resulting in mishaps.
