1 held, two absconding in rape case

One person was arrested while two other accused are absconding in the case of alleged gang rape of a 12-year-old Dalit girl under Jaggayyapeta police limits in Krishna district.

According to the victim, P. Gopi, G. Chittibabu and Konakalla Gopireddy allegedly gang-raped her behind a local government office buildings at Thoragontipalem village in Jaggayyapeta mandal in September. The victim accompanied by her mother lodged a complaint with the Jaggayyapeta police on Sunday. The incident occurred when the victim was staying at a relative’s house.

Unable to bear the trauma, the victim reportedly revealed about the incident to her parents this week. According to the victim’s complaint, the three accused dragged her from a street and reportedly gang-raped her while she was walking towards her relative’s house. The accused reportedly gagged her. The prime accused Gopi, a diploma student, was arrested and the other two accused are3 absconding. “We have registered a case ,” Jaggayyapeta SI S. Sreekumar said.
