The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) may affect the prospects of secular parties in Uttar Pradesh by eating into their votes, where the BJP was fighting a losing battle, CPI(M) Polit Bureau member B.V. Raghavulu has said.
In this situation, the polls might throw up a hung Assembly with secular parties getting more seats than the BJP, he observed.
“It is going to be a complete rout for the BJP-Akali Dal combine in Punjab, where the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) or the Congress will romp home to victory. Either way, it will be a morale boost for the secular forces,” the CPI(M) leader said.
