An Alliance Air plane, with 32 people on board, on Friday landed under emergency conditions after officials at Pathankot airport found pieces of rubber on the tarmac as it took off for Delhi and alerted the Air Traffic Control.
The turbo-prop ATR-42 aircraft landed at the IGI Airport safely after the emergency exercise was set in motion, with ambulances and fire-brigades positioned along the runway here, airport sources said
Alliance Air flight (CD 7814) was operating on Delhi- Ludhiana-Pathankot-Delhi sector.
When it took off from Pathankot in Punjab, 500 kms from here, some pieces of rubber were found on the runway there. “As part of the routine procedure, the ATC at Delhi was alerted and an emergency was declared,” the sources said.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson of Air India, which owns Alliance Air as a subsidiary, said the aircraft made a normal and safe landing when it arrived at IGI airport here at around 3.50 PM.
“It made a normal and safe landing with all 28 passengers and four crew on board,” said an Air India official.
