M. Prabhakaran, the man who attacked former National Security Advisor (NSA) M.K. Narayanan after a meeting here on Wednesday night, was lodged in Puzhal central prison early on Thursday.

According to police sources, the accused was booked under Section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person) and 507 (1)(criminal intimidation) of IPC.

After night-long interrogation, the police produced him before a judicial magistrate for remand. Preliminary enquiries revealed that Mr. Prabhakaran's parents migrated to Tamil Nadu from Sri Lanka where they worked in a tea plantation in 1973. Mr. Prabhakaran's antecedents were being investigated, the sources added.
