A woman Maoist leader surrendered before senior police officers at the Paschim Medinipur district police's headquarters in Midnapore town on Friday.
Shobha Mandi alias Uma, who was active in the Jhargram-Belpahari belt of the district, is the second left-wing extremist to lay down arms since the West Bengal Government notified its surrender and rehabilitation policy for Maoists on July 28.
On Thursday, Shobha Karak, a member of the Maoist squad that operated in the Goaltore area, surrendered.
