January 09, 2017 11:57 pm | Updated 11:58 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday that Pakistan should come forward for talks and put an end to violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr. Singh was here to lay the foundation for the construction of the new campus of the National Disaster Response Force’s 10th battalion.

Responding to a query on the series of encounters along the Line of Control (LoC) and on holding talks and restoring peace in Kashmir, the Union Home Minister said “it is Pakistan which should come for discussions.” Speaking on the elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa, Mr. Singh said the Bharatiya Janata Party will get a clear majority in all the States. “We are getting good support from the people on demonetisation,” Mr. Singh said. He said 55 per cent of extremist activities had come down in the Naxal-dominated States.
