Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the Gandhinagar railway station.
He also inaugurated the International Stock Exchange at GIFT City, as part of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017. The summit runs between January 10 and 14 in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad
Mr. Modi will also open the first-of-its-kind conclave of Nobel laureates in Ahmedabad.
The Nobel Media is holding the first Nobel Prize Series in India, coordinated by the Department of Biotechnology in Delhi. Nine Nobel laureates are expected to attend and meet Mr. Modi.
The Nobel Prize Series, India 2017 will feature a 5-week long Science Exhibition being set up by the Nobel Foundation, with exhibits from the Nobel Museum, Stockholm, Sweden.

Delighted to be here at Gift City to inaugurate India’s first international stock exchange, that is the India International Exchange. Its a momentous occasion for India's financial sector. Indians are at the forefront of IT and finance.
India invented the concept of zero. India has leadership position in informational technology.
Many Financial experts I meet abroad are Indian origin. I would think how to bring them back to provide leadership to financial world. I had visited BSE in 2013 during which I asked them to set up an international stock exchange.
In 2015, BSE signed MoU with Gujarat to set up the exchange. Today, the exchange has become operational. India is in excellent time zone between west and east and GIFT City can provide facility through day and night. India International Exchange will set new standards of quality of service and speed of transactions.

Mr. Modi reaches the Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show to inaugurate it as part of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit.
After the trade show, he is set to reach the GIFT City to open the international stock exchange set up by the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

"We want the railways to bring qualitative difference in the lives of people because the railways is connected with every citizen in the country. Previous governments ignored the Railway Ministry. We have adopted PPP model to develop railways infrastructure in the country. We have increased the budget for railways to double the tracks," he says.
''Earlier, Railways was a sought after portfolio. Alliance partners joined governments on getting this portfolio. We have given top priority to the development of railways after coming to power. New lines are being added in the railway network. We are expanding the capacity,'' he says.
Mr. Modi lays the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the Gandhinagar railway station. The railway station is being redeveloped on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model and will have a 300 room five star hotel and other amenities.
