Days after a BSF jawan uploaded a video alleging poor quality ration being provided, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday sought to know the stand of not just the BSF but also other paramilitary forces like Central Reserve Police Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Central Industrial Securty Force, Shashastra Seems Bal and Assam Rifles on the quality of meals given to the jawans.
A Bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice Sangeeta Dhingra Sehgal issued notices to these paramilitary forces and also the Ministry of Home Affairs asking them to furnish a status report. The Bench also called for the interim report submitted by the MHA to the PMO on the BSF jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav’s complaint over food, and the BSF investigation report on the allegations made.
“Steps have already been taken by respondent (BSF) in this regard. However, we would like to see their report. Whatever report you have, place it before the court in the next hearing, February 27,” the Bench said.
The court issued the notices on a petition moved by a retired paramilitary jawan Puran Chand Arya through advocate Abhishek Kumar Choudhary. It, however, refused to direct that no adverse action be taken against Mr. Yadav.
