The police have arrested a person 15 years after he allegedly took part in the massacre of 15 people in Jarulbachai village in West Tripura, near here, and set houses on fire during a nightlong attack in February 1997.

“We arrested Falgun Debbarma from his home at Dhundraipara. We acted on the basis of permanent warrant issued by the court,” Badal Saha, officer-in-charge of Srinagar police station, said on Sunday. The police raided the village after Debbarma returned home on Friday after a long time.Debbarma, 35, however, denied his involvement in what is one of the worst massacres in the State’s history. Most of the killers are still at large.
