Twelve people were killed and 15 others injured when a tourist bus collided with a lorry on National Highway 6 near Mahisrekha Bridge in West Bengal’s Howrah district on Sunday evening.

“Some of the injured are in a critical condition,” H. K. Kusumakar, Howrah Superintendent of Police, told The Hindu over the telephone.

The accident occurred when the lorry moving on the wrong flank of the highway collided with the Gadiara-bound bus, he said.
