There will not be any change in the form or character of the Women's Reservation Bill and the government wants to introduce in the Lok Sabha in the second phase of the budget session after April 12.
This was stated by Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily here on Monday.
Speaking to presspersons, he said the Bill was with a Parliamentary Standing Committee for 15 years before its recent introduction in the Rajya Sabha.
“Both Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh are firm on getting the Bill passed in Parliament.” The government would introduce the Bill in the Lok Sabha as soon as the Union budget was passed.
Mr. Moily said the question of “quota within quota” was not possible because required a constitutional amendment. The Congress was trying to get the support of Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Lalu Prasad in getting the Bill passed.
The Judicial Standards and Accountability Bill, 2010, was with the Cabinet and it might be introduced in the second phase of the budget session.
