A magnitude 5.9 earthquake rattled parts of Southern California on Monday night, strong enough to be felt from Los Angeles to San Diego.
The quake struck just at 9:26 p.m. local time with its epicentre at 8 km southeast of Ocotillo in Imperial County near San Diego, about 140 km south of Los Angeles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
Residents in San Diego reported feeling the quake.
“I felt walls shaking and saw people rushing out onto the streets,” said Xiahua Wei, a student at the University of California in San Diego.
The quake was also felt by some residents in Los Angeles and nearby areas like Long Beach and Orange County, according to the USGS.
Local police said they received no report of injuries or damage.
