Television stations came back on air in Thailand on Friday for the first time since the coup.
Channels had been suspended in the interests of national security but resumed with the understanding that there would be no broadcasts of sensitive political material, the head of the national broadcasters association said.
Thai PBS , which had defied junta orders and broadcast news through its YouTube channel, has not restarted broadcasts. Reports said the deputy director of the station was taken away after the channel was closed down by soldiers.
Meanwhile, anti-coup demonstrators gathered in Bangkok, defying a junta decree that prohibits public gatherings of more than 5 people.
Witnesses on the scene described a tense stand-off between soldiers and protesters.
