At least 22 people were killed and 20 others were injured when a bus, coming from Manila, drove off an elevated highway on Monday morning, police said.

The Don Mariano Transit bus fell off the elevated part of the Skyway and plunged onto an expressway shortly after 5 am (2100 GMT Sunday).

The bus was heading to San Pedro town in Laguna, one hour’s drive from Manila.

Police said 22 passengers died. At least 20 others, including the bus driver, were injured and taken to nearby hospitals.
