Kevin Rudd gives up Labour Party leadership

Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on Saturday gave up the leadership of Australia’s Labour Party to atone for a heavy defeat at the hands of Tony Abbott’s Conservative coalition in Saturday’s parliamentary election.

He had refused to commit to a full three-year term. He is likely to win his Brisbane seat.
