Israeli aircraft struck targets in the Gaza Strip after renewed rocket attacks from the territory, the Israeli army said on Tuesday.

Two sites in the central and northern parts of the salient were hit, the Israeli Defence Forces said.

The attacks were in response to rockets fired earlier at southern Israel from Gaza, the army said.

The Islamist movement Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, “must be held accountable” for the rocket attacks, said IDF spokesman Peter Lerner.
