Egypt’s first government under recently-elected President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi took office in an early morning ceremony on Tuesday.
The Cabinet was sworn in at 7 am in the Ittihadiya presidential palace and el-Sissi headed a government meeting immediately afterwards, Al-Ahram reported.
Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb retained his position as did 20 members of the outgoing Cabinet that served under interim President Adly Mansour.
Key portfolios including finance, defence and the interior remained unchanged. Fourteen new Ministers were appointed, including Sameh Shoukri, who served as ambassador to the United States from 2008 to 2012, as Foreign Minister.
