An aviation official says a U.S. passenger airplane lost a medium-size access door over western Denmark last month.
A Danish civil accident investigation board official says no one was injured on the ground and the Boeing 757 plane landed safely at Copenhagen airport on November 19.
The New York to Copenhagen flight was descending when the pilots noticed something was wrong with the hydraulic systems. The official declined to identify the airline on Tuesday.
On the ground, technicians saw the 32-by-48-inch (80-120 centimeter) hydraulic bay access door was missing from the aircraft’s body.
The 44-pound (20-kilogram) hatch was lost at an altitude of 11,000 feet (3,350 meters) above Holbaek, 40 miles (65 kilometers) west of Copenhagen.
