Two students killed in explosion in Jaffna

Two students were killed and eight others injured on Monday after an accidental explosion in the northern Sri Lankan city of Jaffna, police said.

According to the police, the students had picked up a ball like object from the road and had later thrown it away after being suspicious.

Upon throwing it, the objected had exploded killing two students and injuring eight others, police said, adding that the injured have been admitted to a hospital.

Police have launched a probe into the incident.
