The Indian Army chief’s statement on Monday regarding ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) was contrary to facts on the ground, a military spokesperson said. The Pakistan Army respects the ceasefire agreement in letter and spirit, a statement pointed out.

Indian Army chief Bikram Singh told the press that the army won’t be quiet if Pakistan broke the rules. His statement came in response to questions after a civilian was fired at on the LoC last Saturday.

After the meeting between the Directors General Military Operations in December, the situation along the LoC has improved considerably. Such accusations and provocative statements were regrettable, the spokesperson added.
