Taliban militants decapitated a mullah from a mosque in western Afghanistan on Tuesday, officials said.

“Mullah Farooq, serving in a mosque in Bala Bolok district, was beheaded by the insurgents this morning after the morning prayers near the mosque,” said Mohammad Younus Rassouli, deputy governor of Farah province.

Mr. Rassouli said Farooq was killed for working as a government-employed mullah.
