The war crimes verdict for Bangladesh’s opposition Islamic party leader was postponed on Tuesday due to the defendant’s poor health.
Matiur Rahman Nizami is charged with genocide, rape, arson and other crimes against humanity during the 1971 war of independence from Pakistan.
“Nizami has been suffering from high blood pressure and the physicians forbade his movement at this stage,” prosecution lawyer Mohammad Ali said, citing a letter from the defence.
The court ordered a medical report on Nizami before setting a new date.
