The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday contradicted a report that appeared in  The Hindu  about Beijing’s call on Islamabad to relocate Hafiz Saeed, the head of the Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), to a West Asian country.

“The report is shocking because it is baseless,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson’s office told  The Hindu .

According to the report, China had asked Pakistan to explore ways of relocating the JuD chief to a West Asian country in response to mounting international pressure to act against him over his links with terror groups.

The report said Chinese President Xi Jinping had suggested this course of action to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on the sidelines of the Boao Forum in China last month.
