Pakistan on Tuesday urged India to abandon its policy of “violence'' against the people of Kashmir and “procrastination” on their demand for self-determination. Instead of using force, India should exercise restraint and work for finding a solution to the Jammu & Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant resolution of the United Nations and aspirations of the Kashmiris, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in a statement issued by the Foreign Office.
Expressing Pakistan's “unequivocal solidarity” with the people of J&K, the Minister condemned the use of “blatant violence'' by Indian security forces against protesters, causing loss of scores of lives since June this year.
Mr. Qureshi also made it clear that Pakistan would continue to extend political, moral and diplomatic support to the people of J&K for their right to self-determination.
