Nepal's largest opposition party, the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), has started discussions with other parties to dethrone the government.

An understanding has been reached on Monday between the Maoists and the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum to find alternatives to the present government. The Maoists say the government is a hindrance to complete the peace process and drafting of a new constitution. The Maoists have also talked with the CPN (UML) leaders to form a national government. CPN (UML) chairman Jhalanath Khanal has said they would be open to alternatives if the Maoists disband their paramilitary youth wing, the Young Communist League, and return seized private and public properties.
