Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Pradeep Vasant Naik arrived here on Sunday on a four-day official visit.
His visit follows visits by the Indian Army Chief, Navy Chief, the Defence Secretary and the External Affairs Minister in the recent past.
All the visits and dialogues focussed on need to build a peace-time relationship between the armed forces of the two countries.
Air Chief Marshal Naik will meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa, External Affairs Minister G.L. Peiris, and commanders of the armed forces.
On arrival, he was received by his Sri Lankan counterpart Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke at the airport.
Kayani visit
Just as Air Chief Marshal Naik leaves Colombo on January 19, Pakistan Army chief Ashfaq Parvez Kayani will land here for strengthening the military relationship between the two countries. Both Pakistan and China had helped Sri Lanka in the war against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.
Newspaper reports said during his three-day visit, General Kayani would call on the Staff College and other military establishments. He would also meet a host of Sri Lankan leaders, including the President.
