Leaders of the European Union and Russia are holding summit talks in Stockholm on energy security, climate change, trade and human rights.
Both sides hope the talks will help patch up relations that have deteriorated since Russia’s August 2008 war with Georgia and its decision in January to halt natural gas deliveries because of a dispute with Ukraine.
EU leaders are expected to press Russian President Dmitry Medvedev for more assurances on energy supplies and for a bigger commitment to climate change.
The two sides hope to sign agreements including on border control, though no major breakthrough is expected from Wednesday’s summit.
