The concert was advertised as an event that called for an end to the international isolation of Cuba that included the 47-year-old US-trade embargo against that country.
"Cuba libre! Cuba libre!" (Free Cuba!), Juanes shouted in front of the large crowd who were enthralled by his magical tunes.
"We came to Cuba for love. We have overcome fear to be with you and we hope that you too can overcome it,"Juanes said during the concert. He had received even death threats for organising the concert.

Daring the scorching heat, Cubans eagerly waited for the concert to begin even though many people fainted and had to be carried away on stretchers.
