Thousands of people are expected to march through central London ahead of next week’s climate change conference in Copenhagen.
The marchers are calling for a deal in Copenhagen to prevent dangerous climate change and organisers say more than 10,000 people could participate on Saturday. The march begins at Grosvenor Square and winds its way down to the Houses of Parliament.
Oxfam chief executive Barbara Stocking said the British government “must fight for a comprehensive, fair and binding deal at Copenhagen — that is our demand today and we expect it to be fulfilled.”
Later on Saturday, another group of protesters are to establish a climate camp at a so-far undisclosed location in the capital, Camp for Climate Action spokesman Richard Bernard said.
