U.K. Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg has called on News Corp. boss Rupert Murdoch to reconsider his bid for broadcaster BSkyB.
Mr. Clegg says the outpouring of revulsion in Britain following the phone hacking scandal makes it critical that he “do the decent and sensible thing” and reconsider his bid.
Mr. Clegg spoke after a meeting with the family of murdered schoolgirl Milly Dowler. The scandal exploded last week when it was reported that the News of the World newspaper had hacked the phone of the 13-year-old murder victim in 2002, even as her family were frantically searching for her.
Culture Minister Jeremy Hunt also said Monday that he doesn’t want to make a rushed decision on BSkyB.
