October 06, 2010 01:29 am | Updated 01:29 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A delegation of the Janata Dal (United) met Chief Election Commissioner S.Y. Quraishi here on Tuesday to request him to end the confusion that may result from similar election symbols allotted to three different parties.

With the Bihar Assembly election on his mind, JD(U) president Sharad Yadav, who led the JD (U) delegation, told the Commission that the confusion over symbols could result in “voting for the wrong candidates” and thus impact the election result.

The JD(U)'s symbol is an arrow, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha symbol is a bow and arrow while the Shiv Sena has a “dhanush” (bow) as its symbol, it was pointed out. There was a possibility of confusion among voters, the delegation said.
