Every year when the winds start picking up in May, wind energy generation also starts in the State and goes on till September or October.

The generation usually commences mid-April and this year too, wind energy generation Thursday afternoon was 133 MW and on Wednesday afternoon it was 145 MW.

The south west early winds have made a start this year. However, for nearly a month the winds will not be regular. Forecasts were for good winds from April 18 and 20 and wind energy generation has started, said K. Kasthurirangaian, chairman of Indian Wind Power Association. “It might take a while for the winds to get steady,” he said.
