‘Will seek more funds for UT’

After chairing the maiden meeting of the Cabinet, Chief Minister Narayanasamy said he would approach the Central government for release of more funds for the UT.

“We will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discuss the rollout of Centrally sponsored schemes that are pending implementation,” Mr. Narayanasamy said.

The new government has announced that it would double free rice supply to ration-card holders and provide 50 per cent subsidy on electricity charges to domestic consumers.

The government would also push for inclusion of Puducherry Municipality along with the qualifier Oulgaret Municipality in the Smart City scheme.

Tourism

“Tourism is among our high-focus areas and we will take steps to bring more international tourists to Puducherry,” the Chief Minister said.
