Vocational training for transgenders

The district administration, in association with Annamalai University, will conduct training for transgenders on making value added products from banana fibre extraction. As many as 50 transgenders had been selected for the first phase of training in Cuddalore district.

M. Chandrasekaran, Controller of Examinations of Annamalai University said the training programme would include preparation of various value-added products from banana fibre. The university has also initiated steps to enter an agreement with the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited, popularly known as Poompuhar to help them market the products.
