Pondicherry Central University on Tuesday joined issue with the Students Federation of India (SFI) and clarified that the Vice-Chancellor Chandra Krishnamurthy was not gheraoed by students,. as claimed by the organisation on Monday.
A spokesperson for the university said that a group of students had come to meet the VC in her office regarding the conduct of students’ elections.
Police personnel at the venue said that they would only allow five students to meet the VC and submit their grievance.
But the VC permitted all the students to discuss about their grievance. He said that the University had already constituted a Grievance Redressal cell as per the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations.
The students dispersed after they were advised by the VC to submit their grievances in writing to take it up at the committee meeting for consideration.
He said that elections to the students’ bodies would be held on December 20 as scheduled between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
