UT all set to get new Chief Secretary

The Union Territory is set to get a new Chief Secretary, with the Ministry of Home Affairs issuing an order transferring and posting Chetan B. Sanghi as Joint Secretary of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development in New Delhi.

Manoj Kumar Parida, a 1986 batch officer of UT cadre is being appointed new Chief Secretary.

Sources indicated that Mr. Sanghi might be relieved next week. He is an 1988 batch officer of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMU) cadre, was appointed the Chief Secretary in May 2013.

He had served as a bureaucrat in Puducherry  in 2003 and 2004 as Secretary to the Lt. Governor and held the portfolio of Industries and Public Works Department. In the aftermath of the tsunami in 2004, Mr. Sanghi had led the rescue, relief and rehabilitation work in Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Hailing from Andhra Pradesh, he was also Resident Commissioner of Mizoram in New Delhi for some time.
