Teams formed to prevent crimes against women

In an effort aimed at preventing crimes against women, including eve-teasing, the Puducherry police have constituted 15 special teams to nab those involved in the act.

Police sources said that women police in plainclothes will inspect crowded places and nab those involved in the act.

Each team will have seven women police personnel and two male police personnel. Joining hands with law-enforcement machinery they will work towards safety of women.

The teams will function under the direct supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Rajeev Ranjan.
