“Young people must turn out in large numbers to exercise their franchise’’. This is an appeal from a group of senior citizens in Puducherry.
The Elders for Youth Movement, a Puducherry-based organisation, has exhorted the youth, particularly the first-time voters, to contribute their mite to ensuring 100 per cent polling in the Union Territory.
Appeal
The organisation has appealed to the youth to elect a candidate of their choice. Even if dissatisfied with the choice of candidates, eligible voters should definitely not refrain from voting.
At least they should go to the polling booth and make use of the NOTA (none of the above) option.
There are more than eight lakh voters in Puducherry and the first-time voters should lead by example.
They should educate others about voting rights, said the organisation in a statement.
