The construction of a Road Over Bridge (ROB) at Arumathapuram level crossing and the 100-feet Road will be completed in the next nine months, Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy has said.
Talking to reporters after inspecting the progress of construction of ROBs at Arumathapuram and on the 100-feet Road, Mr. Narayanasamy said that although the United Progressive Alliance government had sanctioned funds for the project, the previous AINRC government had not earmarked any amount for constructing the two ROBs, though it should have provided 50 per cent of the total cost.
Mr. Narayanasamy said that when he was the Union Minister for State he took up the issue with the Centre and the Railways agreed to sanction funds for the full cost of the project.
Blames AINRC
He blamed the AINRC government for the inordinate delay as it failed to release funds and float tenders for the project.
The Chief Minister said that he had asked officials to hold a dialogue with eight persons who had moved the Madras High Court against land acquisition for completion of the ROB in Arumathapuram.
The by-pass from Keerapalayam to Arumathapuram will be completed in a month’s time.
The project, on completion, would ease traffic congestion and vehicles bound to Puducherry from Madagadipet, Nettapakkam, Thirubhuvanai, Mannadipet would be diverted through the by-pass, he said.
Public Works Minister A. Namassivayam, Secretaries G. Ragesh Chandra and S. Sundaravadivelu were present.
