Labour Minister P. Rajavelu has urged the Union Government to release more funds to the Model Career Centre (MCC) here to equip youth with more job opportunities through counselling and training.
Speaking at a national workshop organised by the Department of Labour and Employment in New Delhi on Wednesday, he said that shortage of skilled and trained staff to work as career counsellors was standing in the way of the functioning of the MCC.
The government should provide more funds to the Union Territory for effective implementation of the scheme and transformation of employment exchanges in Karaikal, Mahe and Yanam into MCC.
He said the Puducherry administration had started development of the software ‘Factory Information and Returns Management System (FIRMS)’ in February this year.
A portal for the Inspector of Factories had been hosted in the official website of the Labour Department, Puducherry, containing the details of factories; statutory forms pertaining to Factories Act, allied acts and rules to enable the factory managements to submit the returns electronically, he added.
